CME Project 01198- 1996-1998 : ”Implementation of Structural Eurocodes in Romanian Civil Engineering
Standards 5 bilingual volumes English/Romanian and more than 1500 pages to present and sustain with
worked examples EC2, EC3, EC4, EC7 and EC8.
Ministry of Public Works starts the CR Programme aiming to draft National Technical Regulations based on
ENV versions of Eurocodes - similar to NAD’s. Steel design has driven the processus:
•NPO 12-1997: Design of light gauge steel structures (Eurocode 3-1.3)
•NP0 41-2000: Diaphragm action of steel sheeting (Eurocode 3-1.3) and ECCS Recommendations, No.
88/1995
•NP0 42-2000: Design of steel structures: General rules for buildings and design of connections (Eurocode
3-1.1 and Annex J
•NP0 46-2000: Fire design of steel members (Eurocode 3-1.2)
•GP0 55-2000: Good practice guide for fire design of steel members (Eurocode 3-1.2)
•P134-03: Design of composite steel-concrete floors (Eurocode 4-1.1)
•GP0 78-03: Good practice design guide for design of industrial steel building (Eurocode 3-1.1
•EN’s versions of Eurocodes implementation started in 2002.
•National Responsibly Authority : Ministry of Public Works
•Department for Technical Regulations
•Committee CS 5 on Structural Engineering
•Standardisation Body: ASRO, Romanian Standards
•Association (1998 founded ). In 2005, Aug. 18th ASRO has applied for CEN membership
•The ASRO Committee TC 343, Basis of Design and Structural Eurocodes activity as mirror of CEN/TC 250
(2004-2005) is found and n nominalization of responsible persons for Eurocodes
•Order No.620/2005 of Ministry of Public Works , published in Official Gazette of Romania No.399/2005,
nominates National Building Reserch Institute- INCERC as coordinator for the technica activities related to Eu-
rocodes implementation and National Annexespreparation
•According to this Order for any design problem not covered by existing National Design Regulations it was
allowed to use provisions of CEN approved EN versions of Eurocodes
After 1st phase of translation, when EN 1990 –Basis of Design and EN 1991-Actions (2004-2007) have been
translated , the structural design components have been focussed
•EUREKA : SEFIE Project (2004–2006): E-forum for the Implementation of Eurocodes for Steel Construction
•The overall purpose of this project wass to extend a successful and highly innovative electronic information
system, to assist the European steel construction industry to implement the Eurocodes quickly and efficiently.
In its present state of development, it provides readily searchable access to comprehensive technical informa-
tion for engineers designing steel structures.
• Partners from UK, Poland , Romania, Czech Republic, Croatia STEEL Project (2004–2006): A Supra-
national Tool for Enhancement of the Eurocodes on-Line (www.accesssteel. com). Partners :UK, Germany
,France, Spain, Sweden ; Romania associated via SEFIE.
•Simplified, complete design guide to EC3 and EC4
•Harmonized guidance
•Multilingual, site National home pages
•Focused on user needs
